Subject: URL's and establishing a web presence

What is your opinion should it be legal for one to own the
URL www.baitandtackle.com and another to own
www.baitandtackleonline.com. Isn't online understood?  They
exist.  So then now what do you feel the recourse should be?

I read in Newsweek how a guy made a ton of money with the
name www.amazno.com amazon with a common typo, eventually
amazon.com took him to court and now he's done. Should these
laws be established soon?

I think this is illegal: Go to <http://www.realestateltd.com>
This "entrepreneur" holds the rights to a few hundred URL's.
In my opinion, for one to have to sell these they should
ALSO have to establish a web presence.  Meaning the name
baitandtackle.com is worth nothing (10,000 to them though)
but if they made a great fishing website than yes I can
understand but without it, this should be illegal. No
business succeeds in this world without a marketable
product, why should these scavengers?

QUESTIONS:

From: alessandro califano <cm_consulting@whitefox.net>
Subject: Is there a way to make gif/jpg files undownloadable?

Hi there,

We have been asked by a customer of ours to set up an
artist's webportfolio making however images undownloadable,
to reduce risks of unallowed reproductions. This has never
been asked to us before, and I doubt if it's really good
Netiquette, anyway...

I was thinking to add a microwriting on the image itself,
stating the copyright data and unlawfulness of unauthorized
reproduction. I wonder however if there's some software
actually making images in gif of jpg format undownloadable.

Could someone help me find out?

T.I.A. and best regards,

Alessandro Califano

Dear John,

When you downloaded and then set Netscape up on your
computer, it asked you if you wanted to set Netscape as your
default browser. You probably answered yes in this dialog,
during set up. You can set Internet Explorer back to your
default.

Go into your internet explorer browser. Click on View, go to
Internet Options. Once in there, go to programs. Down near
the bottom of this is a check box saying: Internet Explorer
should check to see if it is the default browser. This box
will let you set IE back to your default browser (the one
that automatically comes up when you go online). Now, when
you are ready to go online, you should get a dialog box
asking if you want to set IE as your default browser. Answer
yes, and IE will take over all of your html files again!

Hope this helps!

I'd like to recommend Commission Junction as an excellent
affiliate program.

They have over 400 merchants but what I really like about
them is that they send you a COMBINED check each month from
all the merchants.  I was a member at Linkshare and most of
the merchants had huge minimum check requirements.  CJ has
a $20 dollar minimum (even have direct deposit now) for a
combined check.  You can earn from lead, sale, impression
or click. I've had a lot of success with them and they have
excellent customer service as well.
